Liar liar feather butt on fire

21 chickens, 22 weeks old. I'm a new chicken owner. One of the girls keeps sitting in a nesting box, then shoots out after a few mins singing that she's just laid an egg....i look and there's just a fake egg in the box. She's laid at least 8 fake eggs today. I have moved the fake egg around to different boxes, she will then pop out of that nest box calling everyone to come look at her newest fake egg. Then I'll have 8 or so other hens celebrating with her. I'm getting 6 (real) eggs a day now, but I cannot verify if she's actually laid any of them. Is she practicing or is she just a habitual liar?

It means she's really close to laying. My buff Orpington Juniper did that a few days before she started laying. Keep a close watch on her

I call this teasing... teasing you, that is. Hilarious! She's probably feeling the urge to lay but isn't quite there yet. I guess "practicing" is one word for it!
