No, lice are extreme species specific. Human lice can only live on human hair, just as dog, cat, bird, and goat lice can only live on those specific animals.
My goats had lice once. I sprinkled dog flea/tick powder on them and brushed it into their fur. No more lice. I didn't think about the lice hopping onto people, tho. I just treated the goats because I felt sorry for them.
Nope mine had lice before and they didnt bother me...I just either dusted them with Sevin dust or Synergize (its a pour on) for ther problems and all is fine. My grandsons play out in the goat pen and they dont seem to have any problems with it either. Yep species specific and wont bother you. But htey do need to be treated for it as it will run them down if not treated. Not good to let them go to long with it.
I bought three goats on Sunday really noticed today, that they have lice. One is pregnant and due to kid in about a month, the other two are only recently weaned. Any advice on what can be used safely.
TIA,
Kim
You can use CyLence, then deworm with ivermec (because ivermec with also take care of lice). Not sure about Sevin and preggers does - but Chaty would know...hopefully she'll chime in.
Thats a hard 1 I would get some DE to dust them with if they are due soon...Sevin dust is fine too but be really careful about getting in the nasal passages and eyes..I use either the wormer and with her this close she is in the safe margin as to not abort so I would worm with Ivemic plus wormer for cattle and give it orally it should do well for the worms and lice and I bet they have mites too. Its either or as you will need to wormer her when she kids too. I woould just worm her and sprinkle DE (Ditanameous Earth) in their bedding that, as you need to clean all of the old out or they will get them back. When she kids you will need to worm her again and then 10 days later.
