I was holding one of my pullets and noticed that she had white bugs crawling around her face. I looked in her feathers and realized they seem to have an entire population on her head. I didn’t check my other birds, but I’m sure they’re infested too. What is a good medication and are there any precautions to take?

this is urgent if they get into any wounds or eyes or even under scales it can lead to permanent trauma I would change out all the shaving or bedding and add new bedding then order some lime or DE I would recommend lime as its safer for your hens then ill try and find a link of a video for you but your gonna have to bath each hen its a whole process but definitely has to be done here's the video

if you really don't wanna do that provide a bin to dust bath in with lots of Piet moss and lime in it but that's not full proof

Well I went to tractor supply, covered my chickens in some of the powder they used in the video, my dad sprayed down the coop and we change the bedding.Hopefully they’ll be doing better.I’m getting a new pair of chickens this week so I’ll powder them before introducing them to my current birds. Thanks for the video and the advice!P.S. I think I was mistaken and they are actually lice.
