Over egg-sposed
We have a 1-year-old cream leg bar hen. I think she's dying. For the last few days she has been trying to sleep in the egg boxes but not acting broody. She has not plucked herself. And she wasn't in the egg boxes during the day just at night. Today, she's in the run and barely walking. She mostly just stands in one place. she usually won't let anybody pick her up but I was able to walk straight to her and pick her up. She clearly isn't feeling well. She just sits with her eyes closed.
She is not walking like a penguin so I don't think egg bound is her problem. I put her in a sink of warm water with Epsom salts just in case and she is just sittong floating on the water.
She doesn't have any discharge from her nose or mouth. And if I don't hold her head up in the sink, she falls asleep and her head starts to go under the water, so I forewent finishing a soak
She eats a non-GMO Tucker miller food suitable for all chickens. And she has free access to both oyster shell and grit.
There is no sign of mites. Her comb looks red and not pale but she is clearly not feeling well. When I laid her on her side to wrap her in the towel And she's not even trying to stand up.
I haven't seen her poop so I don't know what that looks like yet.
I've given her some nutrient drench.
