Had to cull some extra roosters for the first time. This novice rooster keeper was very lucky the roosters didn't have better aim! Rooster #2 got me when I went to pick up Rooster #1. Definitely helped me feel better about my decision that they had to go! Those spurs are no joke! I wore a chainsaw helmet with face guard for Rooster #2 lol.

Sorry that this happened, but thanks for posting. Some folks are not aware of the serious injuries that human aggressive roosters can cause.
It is healing super well. I should have known better as I work with wild animals for a living. Roosters entering sexual maturity and my sweet spoiled laying hens are not the same chicken, and should have been treated accordingly!

had to cull my roo today too, he drew blood on me twice, was always getting in my way and stressing out the hens and ripping their feathers out. I thought he might be a good guard roo and pet at first since his first 9 months he was very personable, but spring hit and he was unmanageable. Pretty bird, too bad, chicken adobo tomorrow.
