I got this budgie about a month ago...just wondering if anyone could tell if it's male or female. I know the lutino gene causes the cere to be an odd color than that or a normal budgie...so any help is appreciated!

Age is important here. How old is this little bird? Baby boy's when really young have a pinkish/purple hue over the entire cere. If it were a girl the very margins of the cere can appear white while the rest of the cere is sort of a chalky/dull light blue that turns tannish and then dark crusty brown when approaching breeding age and or condition.

I used to raise lutino budgies all of the time. I'm looking at your pics and I just can't tell! His/It's cere looks to be smooth and maybe has a shine...right? But then, I look at the first pick and I think I can see a little white all around the inside hole of the cere?! Based on the lower picture...I would say boy.

Let me know...I miss raising them...I think they are very neat little creatures. I had one that looked just like yours...boy, could he talk! And he knew his name and flew to me on command. He was awesome!!!! I miss him - he lived a little over 10 years.

I'd say a little more than 6 months old. Pet store purchase...don't they generally sell them at stores at 4 months old?

When he was 4 months, he had alot of white...more white than another bird the same age had. That's why I chose him/her. I'll try and take better photos tomorrow when I have him out. He's asleep right now.

Thanks for the replies!
