How do I make jelly from Seyval grapes? I have about 20-22 pounds of Seyval grapes

I am not making wine from them but jelly. I know how to extract the juice but what I am not sure of ...do I make it the same as a concord jelly? Or do I readust the amount of sugar??? I need to know ASAP, please as I want to get these done today if possible. Thanks ahead of time.

That's a lot of grapes. I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with that particular grape. If it's a sweet grape, I would use one of the low sugar pectins. I've had much success with the Ball brand. That's all I use anymore and my family is very, very happy with the jams.

Hope someone can help you.

thank you Prairie Girl, I guess I will continue to "wing it". LOL I have to get these grapes done up. they are a hybrid and normally used for wine. Believe me...if I were into wine making right now, tht is what I would do with these grapes. LOL

Hey, prairie girl, thanks for asking. I have them setting in the fridge right now. I am following the directions for removing the tartrate crystals. They sat for 24 hours so I will be making the jelly today.

I will be using a finely diced green apple for my pectin. The last batch, I tried using Sure Jel and it didn't set up.

There is a recipe for remaking jelly and jam that don't set up. I don't know it off hand as I haven't done it myself for many years. It worked for me. You could go to the Sure Jel website and find it - at least I would think it would be there. I do have the remake recipe for the Ball low/no sugar pectin I use if you want it. It's on the direction insert from the box.
