Hello my name is Siara and I’m located in Wichita, Kansas. I have 13 ducks. I am unfortunately needing to rehome one of them. I have a drake named Homer who I’ve had since he was a baby. He will now be 4 years old in June. The last few years since reaching maturity, he has tormented one of my girls named Clementine. Each breeding season he will get on top of her and pull her feathers out. It seems like the behavior gets worse each year. She is now at the point where she has to go to the vet because her eyes are bloody and injured. I don’t have the space to separate them. I am absolutely distraught about having to rehome one of my babies, but it’s not fair to Clementine. I don’t want him to go to someone who will cull him or eat him. I don’t want that as he is my pet. He would probably do well with a flock of boys or one that had a lot more girls than I have. He is also used to free ranging during the day. If you’re interested please send pictures of your setup and flock. Thank you. Here is the culprit: View attachment 4090953

I’m sorry you have to rehome your Homer. You could also try asking a petting zoo or duck rescue if they can take him. Hope he finds a good home :).

Poor dear... Wish I were closer. I had to rehome a Drake once and I got so lucky he went to a home where he had two girls all to himself (and they were both bigger than him, so he couldn't hurt them when mating). I wish you as much luck as I had. ❤️

You are doing the right thing. (But that doesn't make it less painful)

I was actually able to figure out a setup to keep them separated! So I get to keep my naughty boy, and Clementine has healed beautifully!
