Hi, can someone tell me, how many times a year will a Mallard Duck breed? Is it once a year or is it like Muscovy's that is more than once? Thank you

yeah i dont get many

i find if they succesfully hatch babies themselves they only have one brood. But when i take the eggs they lay about 2 to 3 clutches and i just hatch the eggs myself

Hey guys I'm new to the site but I have mallard ducks one male and one female. They're about 4 months old, just wondering when they start laying eggs. Think we have 2 duck eggs not sure...cleaning out their pond and there they were. We also have them in a pen with our chickens. Don't think the chickens put the eggs in the pond. Weird I know but what do you think??? Do ducks lay only in clutches or do they lay everyday like chickens? Thanks!!

HI, they lay like chickens, every day but they have eggs that almost has the feel of Muscovy eggs. The shell is allot thicker and the eggs are a greenish, greyish colour. Not like chicken eggs that is white, beige, brown, if that makes any sense. The feel of there eggs is also more smooth where a chicken egg I think is more porous if I can explain it that way. But the size is the same as chicken eggs.

Thanks so much!! We've not found anymore but we've not cleaned the pond out yet this week. I'll keep looking though, appreciate the help!!

Hi! I am new to raising ducks and I have a female who laid 15 eggs and has been sitting on the eggs for 30 days since she laid the last egg. I am concerned since it was been so long. I read that it only takes 21 or so days. What should I do? Any advice?

30 days is unusual unless the duck is a Muscovy. Do you know what breed the duck is? Most domestic ducks take about 28 days to hatch. I think you should take them out and candle them to see if they're fertile and if the ducklings are still alive. Do you know how to do the candling?
