I noticed my cockerel is slowly growing spurs. They're not sharp yet but large bumps at this point.
I've read some posts discussing trimming spurs once they get long but does anyone have advice on how to keep the spurs blunt BEFORE they grow out?
I'm thinking I could occasionally use a nail file or something? I have battery powered file for my dog's nail that may work. I don't want to hurt my cockerel but I'd like to prevent the spurs from growing long and sharp so the ladies don't get injured during mating.
Thanks for the advice!
Here's a pic of him for fun.
