mini rex bunny rabbit Show Quality????***PICS***UPDATE

can i still show my rabbit after i breed her ?will she not do as well ?also if she doesnt have and awards yet would her babies not sell for much?the only problem is that there arent any ARBA shows in our area for like 2 months or more so it would take forever to show her first.


ps i have a broken black carrying castor mini rexbuck and a castor carrying btoken black doe

any suggestions would be appreciated

The value of the (prospective) babies will depend largely on your market. If you are selling them as pets, their value will be whatever the pet price is in your area, whatever the parents may be. A pet buyer won't care if the parents are Grand Champions, they won't even care if the babies have pedigrees or not. A breeder will want pedigrees, but knows that the real value is the rabbit itself. If you build a reputation as someone who breeds quality rabbits, you will be able to charge more because people will trust your judgement and your bloodlines. If you are just starting out as a breeder, you can't expect to charge more for the bunnies, just based on what the parents may have done at a show.

I'm not clear on the colors of your buck and doe. If the buck is black, he can't be carrying Castor. Castor is an agouti color, agouti is dominant to self (black is a self color), so if he were carrying the gene for Castor, he would be Castor. The same thing applies to your doe. If she's Castor, she could be carrying the gene for self, but Broken is dominant to solid, so if she were carrying the gene for broken, she would express it, in other words, she'd be a broken.

thanks ill go take pics of both of them and post them later. maybe im wrong if you want i can email you the pedegrees so we can clarify idk maybe i was confused i think the castor carries black then . i dont even know how good quality they are lol and there aren't any shows for 2 months in maryland i went on the arba website.i also have the stanndard of perfection.do you do mini rexes too?

BEAUTIFUL Rex's!! I am wanting a pair of REX sooooooo bad!!!! They look soooooo soft. Makes me want to reach out and touch them...lol.

Hi My daughter does Mini Rex. you can check her out at hopes-n-dreamsrabbitry.webs.com. We are an ARBA registered rabbitry. Your broken black does have a nice blanket. But your pose is a little to cramped. He may be pushing too. His back toes should aline with his hock & should be in the middle of his peak. There is a pencil test on someones website. minirexrabbits.com. We are still learning too.
I was also lost when you had that each rabbit carried the other variety. You can email me the pedigrees & maybe that would help. Now we do have a broken castor that had a solid black & broken black littermates. I am learning castor is not the easiest to work with but they are beautiful. I will help any that I can but I will say we are in the learning mode too. I dont think you can every learn enough.
