Hey all!

I am trying to deduce the parentage of my mixed breed goslings. I know there are several quality threads on color genetics on geese but I’ve found it difficult to isolate the information that directly pertains to my situation.

The individual I purchased my goslings from had a mixed flock composed of mostly white Chinese and grey Toulouse, there were also a few embdens and one American buff goose. The owner didn’t know the gender of the aforementioned buff goose/gander. The goslings I acquired (pictured below) are 2 buffs, one grey, and one mostly white with grey splashes.

From my attempt at vent sexing ( I’m fairly accurate with ducks but this was my first attempt with geese) I’m confident that the grey and splash are both male and that the smallest buff is female, the larger buff was hard to differentiate between a shy tiny penis and the genital eminence.

I believe that the two buffs are a result of a buff male over a grey Toulouse female, which from what I understand would make them sex-linked female. The grey could potentially be their brother or a straight Toulouse. As for the white splash male, I believe he’s some combination of a tousle and a white goose (probably Chinese but could be embden) and I won’t know which until he starts to develop some resemblance of a top knot.

Sorry for the long post, just had a lot of information to unpack! Thanks in advance for your input!
