Molting in the snow?!

Is molting on 8 month old pekins, normal for this time of year? My pekins have started to molt. One of my girls has a little blood on her wing and but it doesn’t seem to bother her, and the other ones arent picking on her. I’m worried since we live in Michigan and have snow on the ground… it seems like an odd time for them to shed feathers. Is this normal and is there anything special I need to do for them?!

P.S. I did put some corn starch on the tip of her wing where the blood was.

I would check them for mites,just to be safe.

Mine are molting some now as well.

Where would the mites be? Would I be able to see them with naked eye? Where would they have gotten mites?

You would probably have to look in their feathers,but yes I think you would be able to see them.
