My hens are 9 months old and one of them has been losing/picking or getting her feathers pecked out and now her crop is bald and some other areas as well. It seems like she’s molting, but I thought the couldn’t molt till they were older? We’ve check for lice/mites but I don’t see any and they are on Kalmbach All Natural 20% Protein Full Plume Feathering and they get meal worms, corn, and sunflower seed mix every other day. What can I do to help? Is she just molting early or is she bored?? I’ve seen the other chickens peck at her as well. Today she was pulling out her crop/chest feathers.

I feel bad for her because it’s been cold and we’re about to get hit with some snow and colder weather….

What's your location? Is cannabis legal there? CBD leaves when decarboxilated, can relieve anxiety, thus curbing feather picking by the chicken of their own feathers or others who are yanking them.

I give this to my flock with several identified feather pickers. It definitely helps.
