They loss that many feathers in the fall? my family had chickens in tx when I was little, I got these chickens last year and the chickens first winter was when they were young so I had a heat lamp on them so I haven't seen them do a full time molt yet. So I wasn't sure what to expect. The bottom hen looks like molting. The top hen may be molting and the rooster.
A higher protein food will help. Like a feather fixer
Yes. My Orpington hen is finishing her molt and she did a full molt so she lost a ton of feathers. You could see her skin. They loss that many feathers in the fall? my family had chickens in tx when I was little, I got these chickens last year and the chickens first winter was when they were young so I had a heat lamp on them so I haven't seen them do a full time molt yet. Your girls are healthy, molts are normal.
Most young pullets/hens dont molt fully first years
This feed^^ does not' 'fix' feathers, and it has more calcium than a non laying bird needs.Like a feather fixer
