I need some ideas on how to rid my yard of these pesky creatures. We do have water standing in the yard and honestly it is something that can’t be fixed without major land work. So asking for chicken safe solutions for mosquitoes 🦟

We treat open water puddles next to the creek with First Saturday's Lime. That is safe for even frogs. We just sprinkle some in and around every couple of weeks. That kills mosquito larvae.

For the mosquitoes that live, we use dunks bought on Amazon. 1/4 dunk per 5 gallon bucket filled 3/4 the way up. Then put about 4 of those buckets up high where chickens and cats won't get into them. They lure the female to lay her eggs in the bucket and kills them.

We dug a pond. In the spring the water comes up and over the bank because the melted snow flows down into it. I have fish, frogs, and turtles. Dragonflies. The pond attracts the mosquitoes so they lay their eggs in it and fish eat the eggs/larvae. I have much less "standing" water than I would have otherwise, plus native iris and cattails, and other plant life.

I realize that not everyone can dig a pond in their yard, but you could consider digging a little one in the lowest area of the yard. Toss in a couple of gold fish or swordtails.
