So I live in Michigan and with all the rain we have had, I think the Mosquito will carry me away! Has anyone here ever used mosquito beater? It says it's safe for people and pets. I don't want my chickens to get sick. But I don't want to be a blood bank either!

Never used the Mosquito beater, but I have bats that eat up to 2000 mosquitoes a night! I have a pond in my backyard, and needed a cheap, easy way to control the mosquitoes. Bats fit the bill as they use no electricity or propane! Add a bat house or two to your yard, and watch the mosquitoes disappear!

THAT is brilliant! Right up my alley! .... We have used Bacillus and mosquito dunks, I think have BTi in them too, I'm not sure what is in the mosquito beater so I can't say.... But we have standing water everywhere in stock tanks and serious flooding, so its almost a pointless battle...

Would these bat boxes attract bats in the plains? Lol I ask because I have honestly never seen a bat here... Up in elevation maybe but never here... Too bad I can't mail order bats in my next batch of beneficials ha-ha ;)

Edit; DH just informed me we do too have bats lol.... I guess they bug the cows...are those the right kind of bat or does it matter?

We have bats and swallows. Mosquitoes are near the garden, but we just avoid it at dusk or we'd be anemic. You'd been surprised at where bats are. I highly recommend bat attractor liquid if you put up a bat box. It helps them find it much faster!

In CT we have 2 kinds of bats, large brown and little brown bats (that's their official names, not my description of them!) I see mostly little brown bat which have a wingspan of 6" and do not harass people or animals. Put up some bat houses where the mosquitoes are, away from people and livestock, and let them do their thing. Bat houses need to be on a high pole or building - 15-20 feet above the ground. We see them flying around at dusk eating away!

Cool, I will have to put up some bat boxes then! :)

Until then, I looked into mosquito beater... I would definitely give it a shot; I use organics and garlic, lemongrass and geranium oil are go to herbs for repellant.... Eucalyptus and vanilla are excellent, as well as rosemary and lavendar... We had buffalo gnats horribly this year so I feel like a bouquet in a bakery, but it works lol..

If it doesn't work quite as well as you want, dab a little vanilla on with it and it will help too :)

The bat house thing sounds awesome. I really didn't even think of that. The mosquito beater says it's all natural. Thank you guys for all the help.

Does bat attractant really work? I put up a box and woodpeckers did some renovation and moved in. I can build more boxes.
