Hey everyone! I want to see all of your most unique individual birds - from one-legged hens to crazy-looking mutts, from whacky turkeys to two-headed ducks, post some pictures of your special birds! You'll be judged based on the uniqueness of your individual bird and the extraordinary names and stories that go along with them.

Rules - read carefully:
  • Enter specific chickens only, rather than a general breed. (e.g "Carl my one-eyed silkie roo" - NOT "Polish Crested breed")
  • Enter at least one picture of your bird along with their name and a very short backstory.
  • Stick to these types of poultry: chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys. Quail and emus are also allowed. They will NOT be in separate categories.
  • Only two entries per person. Each entry should be added in its own post.
Your entry can include:
  • Disabled or malformed birds (e.g. one-legged quail, six-toed goose, or blind/deaf emu)
  • Whacky mutts (random e.g. a Polish Crested hen crossed with an Ameraucana rooster, creating a crest and a beard)
  • More!
Other Info:
The starting date of this competition is June 17, 2024. The competition will be closed on July 1, 2024. The winner will be announced within the next three days after we judge.
There are no real prizes, but the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will get a shout-out on another thread.

The judges will be me (Barnette), Addicted to Chickens, and MamaPoult.

Meet Artemis, our 7 week old Lisa Steele's Cookies and Cream from Meyer hatchery. This girl's got it all! Extra toes, feathered legs, a V-comb, muffs and a beard, the craziest bouffant of the flock, and nothing but elevator music in that little noggin.

She is generally bad at being a chicken (I'm not sure she could see very well even before her crest obscured her eyes) but hands down the friendliest chick in our little flock. 10/10 would buy again.

This is Moe an Ameraucauna hatched on 4/2. His/her feathers are growing in slow so she looks pretty funky! She won’t hold still long enough to show her back under her wings, but she’s completely bald except for peach fuzz. Idk 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is Chance (RIP), a Bielefelder mix roo. He was the victim of a murderous broody hen and was attacked as he hatched. He had facial deformity causing damage to the comb and right side of his beak, and several toes were mostly eaten off.
He lacked balance on a roost because of his toe nubs and had a collapsed nostril on the left, and a goofy side profile with that big chunk missing from the comb. Pics: (1) 2 day old chick. (2) 8 weeks with a Biel pullet.
