some one suggested using a bucket of water with sunflower seeds floating on the top to drown mice(can't seem to find the post now). How does this work they just sink.

I haven't heard of this but i've made a bucket mouse trap by taking a old tin can and punch a hole in both ends and then stringing wire through it. Then you attach it to the top inside rim of the bucket and fill the bucket with water. Then I put peanut butter on the can. Well a mouse will jump on the can to eat the peanut butter and the can rolls so they fall off into the water and drown. Its probably the same concept with the sunflower seeds

I saw that same post you are talking about and I got the impression the seeds float and look like something solid, so the mice jump down into the water to get the seeds and cant get out and drown.
(How bout that long sentence LOL)
I have found them floating in water buckets many times, dont know why they jumped in there, but the concept is the same I think.

i've seen buckets with rulers wired to the top edge of a bucket of water when the mouse walked out so far the ruler would tilt and they slide into the water and drown no bait they just want a drink of water.

I caught a opposum in an empty 5 gal plastic bucket, he crawled in to investigate an empty cat food can and couldnt climb out.
