Okay I know this is a chicken forum not a cat forum but I like y’all so I figured I’d ask here. Sorry in advance for the novel 🤣🙈

But have any of y’all ever moved a cat? Particularly an old lady cat? How do you help them adjust or whatever?

We are moving veryyy soon and I’m really worried about her. She’s almost almost 12 and has never lived anywhere else. 😭

Maybe I’m just worrying for nothing ??? She’s a very easy going, sweet, adaptable cat so I’m sure she’ll probably be fine but idk, I’m so nervous and worried she won’t be. 😭

I was reading bringing familiar furniture helps? Which we’ll definitely be doing since we are bringing her favorite cat tree and several other things from here. But is there anything else I can do?

I’m not worried about the actual move itself as it’s only a couple miles away so not like we’ll be going far or anything but I’m mostly worried that she will have a hard time adjusting or be scared or whatever.

I’m not worried about the dog cause we actually used to live there and he’s been there tons since so he’s very used to it and will be fine. But the cat I can’t stop worrying about 😭

TIA.

Picture of the old lady a couple years ago for tax.

I have two senior cats who are both turning 16 this year. They have gone through several moves (6!) with me, so I have a little bit of experience with this.
Of course I can't speak to how your cat will take it for sure because they're individuals, but I found that keeping them in a smaller section of the house for a few days made it less overwhelming for them. I always chose the room that I knew I was going to keep their litter box in, that way they would not get confused about where they should be going to the bathroom.

Thank you! This is helpful! Thankfully my area is only one room anyway (unless you count the bathroom) so it won’t be too much for her to adapt to hopefully hahah
