This summer I will be moving to Alaska but I’m wanting to bring my endangered ducks with me. I have 5 years of genetic make ups with these birds. What is the process of bringing birds onto a ferry. Where Im going I will have to take a Ferry. My dog as well will be going with me. My knowledge they would just have to stay in the car. And your allowed to check on your pers once every 8 hours? Anyone familiar with the process

How many ducks are you planning to bring? Household pets require vet health certificates to travel on the ferry, the same may apply to ducks, however, I've never traveled the ferry system with anything other than dogs. With avian flu quarantine areas currently, you might have some restrictions. The pet deck calls are about every 8 hours, sometimes less, and anytime while in a port you can go to the car deck. It would be wise to contact the marine highway ferry to ensure that the ducks can travel with you, so you can avoid your animals getting quarantined or otherwise denied access into the state.

This is not going to be easy. Just crossing state lines is going to require health certificates too. You really need to contact each state you will be traveling through. And I agree, with the huge outbreak of disease in commercial poultry, they are going to be very strict about it.

If you are driving a car to Alaska - this is going to be a multi-day trip, the logistics will be very tough. The easiest way to keep the genetics would be to take fertilized eggs with you, and hatch there.
