Hey guys, my baby Muscovies just started laying eggs (6-7 months) I currently live near Austin tx and am wondering why it took so long for then to start laying? It's still getting cold here so is that the reason? How do I increase egg production? I'm feeding them a mixture of layers feed, duck feed, and corn. Could stress he the problem? I have 2 year old pekin and 2 year old muscovy hens that are currently not laying either. Thanks in advance.

6-7 months old is not a late start for Muscovy ducks to lay. They as well as your other ducks were likely impacted by the shortened daylight period rather than temperature. I'd cut out the corn and continue with the layer and duck feed for best health and egg production.

Ok, got it. Would you recommend how else to get their egg production up? I forgot to mention in the original post that last year, my two muscovy hens laid their clutch of 40ish eggs in May. Is that very late for them to lay in the year? I hate how Texas weather is so variable lol.

Muscovies in general are not prolific layers. Most lay a clutch and then set and incubate them. If you want lots of duck eggs, it is best to stick with the mallard derived breeds.

Well, I have both, pekins and muscovies, but they're not laying right now. I get that mallards lay more, but I've yet to see an egg from the pekin.
