I was wondering if someone could tell me what colors my duckling might turn out to be. The drakes are blue pied and silver pied. The mom is in the photo. Should be blue pied, maybe a white, and I am not sure of the two lighter ones, they look like their feet are a different color maybe brownish. Also I was wondering if beak color has to do with what color they will be. Thanks.

thats a pretty interesting coloured mum! what colour is it? chocolate and lavendar? from the top pic it looks like a lavendar body with a chocolate head? odd, i've hatched out bronze heads on blue bodies.

if the drake that fathered the eggs was silver all the ducklings would have atleast one dose, so blue, silver, blue fawn.

the yellow ones wont be white with those coloured parents, it'll most likely be barred of something or rippled? i have no experience with ripple but all my barred ducklings are yellow at first.

beak colours definately tell you about the colouring, black for blacks, blue for blues and silver etc. pink and brown beaks here mean bronze. so for me, if i get a yellow duckling with a blue beak it'll turn out blue barred.

we dont have ripple or chocolate here so hopefully someone who has can help out with those caramel coloured ones there. i like the odd colours, i has some caramel coloured ones hatch out 4 weeks ago, the coloured feathers are just peaking through, they are looking bronze, but the mother has lavendar, so i think that the lavendar gene has diluted the bronze a bit, never a dull moment in mussie colour world!

Hi Ian,
I am not entirely sure what color the mom is. I have been told she is blue fawn or lilac I don't really know other than she is beautiful. I think I will grow out the lighter colored babies to see how they turn out and post photos as I go.

The mother looks like a blue fawn. I have a blue fawn pair and they look just like her!
I would say you will have a very pretty assortment of colors with the ducklings.
Blue fawn, possibly some blues (these two colors look similar as duckling down so I never really know!).
Your lighter colored ducklings may end up silver or buff. I had a clutch late last fall that I got 2 silver/lavenders out of (I'm not sure exactly what color to call them!). I will try to post pics of them now they are feathered. But here's a pic of them as babies

Hi there, with how dark her head is she is definitely a chocolate, the tend to sun bleach easer. Which would account for her feathers to be such a light chocolate.
