My 6 month old chicks haven’t laid eggs

Where do you live or what is your climate like? What's readily available in your area, i.e. do you have sandy soil and an arid climate, or lots of rainfall and lots of trees and leaf litter?

I live near Dallas, so normally a more dry climate. I also have them in an area that is harder soil- more like clay. I do have sand in their run, though. We have been getting lots of rainfall lately, but we are not heavy with trees or leaf litter in our yard.
