My chickies today versus about 6 week ago when we had had them for 2 days. Tomorrow 3 of them will be going to their new person and Monday 4 more will head to their new home. Figuring out which of my 'babies' to give away is so hard! But it will help relieve some crowding while we build a bigger coop because thanks to 'chicken math' we will now be keeping 10, the maximum number allowed in our area, instead of the 4 we originally planned on...

Those are Delawares, right? They look pretty!

Yes, chicken math is definitely a thing...

Are you planning to keep only pullets, or a cockerel as well?

They are Delawares! Good eye! I am planning to keep a cockerel. Our city doesn't specifically ban them but I'll have to work out the 'noise ordinance' end of things. I've got one that is super friendly and will sit on my hand. The folks getting chicks tomorrow also want a cockerel and I just happen to have another friendly guy they can have.

Not quite as good as that ;) I haven't seen many photos of young Delawares, so I wasn't sure. Then I looked at your other posts and saw you mention having Delawares. But I asked to be sure, just in case you also had some other breed as well.

Sounds like you've got it well planned out about which chicks/genders go to which home; enjoy your chickens!
