One of my kid goats is bloated. He is pooping little goat pebbles, and is not moving around much.We gave him some pepto bismal, that seems to have helped him a little bit.I read goats can get Coccidiosis. Would that cause bloat?

No experience with coccidiosis, myself. As kids, the reason my family's goats got bloat was usually due to a sudden dietary change--either pasture to hay or a sudden excess of grain.

Try feeding a cup or so of cooking oil and massaging his sides. Good idea on the Pepto--we've never tried that.

Once the gas has escaped, try drenching him with some baking soda (a tablespoon baking soda/a pint water/two tablespoons corn syrup) basically an electrolyte mix, but the baking soda helps keep bloat down and is an excellent diarrhea treatment.

Aww:hitpoor baby goat. We are getting goats in the spring and I've been doing all the research and all I have heard about bloat is if you over feed, change there diet or if they eat somthing they're not supposed to they will get bloat.

If you feed too much at once? Possibly. But it could also be weaning or any other issue. Ours always got mild cases when we moved the bucklings into the barn to wean them, but it's been a long time, and I remember only the treatments and causes, not details.
