My buddy down the street is away on vaca so i'm watching his flock till sat morning. When my daughter and I started pulling his eggs from the boxes we noticed a hen sitting on a 5 egg clutch. This started on thursday and she has been sitting since then. We have been checking in on her 3X a day and we have yet to see her off that nest. When I asked him why he doesn't let that broody hen hatch them out, his answer was he doesn't want anymore chicks. Well...we do so this morning at day break I pulled those eggs and placed them in my incubator that was already set up. We candled them and all 5 are good to go. Silkies and maybe a game fowl or 2. We'll have to wait and see but I'm willing to bet we'll go back down later and she'll be sitting on another clutch.
