Yes we did take it from the mom here's a pic!Maybe you should add some photos so we can see the severity of the injury. The fluff likely won't grow back, but the chick with feather up eventually. Maybe clean the wound and put a small amount of antibiotic ointment on it for now.
What breed of chick is this? Also I would separate the mom and chicks from the rest of the flock, since we now know someone might bully the chicks.
Also, welcome to BYC!
hi! owner of the chick here, I don't know the breed cuz I got it from a egg farm (the chick escaped) but the chick has been limping around, eating and we will separate the mom. thanks you for the advice! do I give the chick back? I'm sorry if I sound dumb, I've only ever helped hurt hens or roosters. chicks are a bit confusing for meMaybe you should add some photos so we can see the severity of the injury. I thought in the initial post you said it was a different mom hen that attacked her. But regardless, I would keep her separated from whichever hen did it for now. Does the chick have a buddy she can be with? They typically don't like to be alone.hi! owner of the chick here, I don't know the breed cuz I got it from a egg farm (the chick escaped) but the chick has been limping around, eating and we will separate the mom. thanks you for the advice! do I give the chick back? Ok thank you! The chick is doing fine it seems and it's bones and everything are fine just the fur and a bit of skin was ripped off but we do let it have some time with our other chicks tho they are all about a monty old so we are wary when we do (injured on is like 1 week old)I thought in the initial post you said it was a different mom hen that attacked her. The injury doesn't look too bad and I do think cleaning it up and adding a small amount of Neosporin will help it heal. As long as you can prevent infection, it should be alright. I'm unsure why she would be limping though. Do her leg bones seem intact? Did you check for any injury to the toes or pad of the foot?
By the way, there is a separate thread for injuries and illnesses. You may want to post this there so you get more responses. There are a lot of really helpful people over there that may be able to better help you than I can.
