My 10 month old Swedish Flower Hen pullet has become standoffish, begun crowing, and insistently tidbit calls to the other hens. (I haven't witness mounting...yet.)

Last night I noticed she looks like she is developing spurs! Is this just behavioral (hen acting like a rooster) or is something else going on?

she looks like a pullet to me (and I have SFH hen and cock)...my cock's comb and feathers are quite different. And I have hens of other breeds with splendid spurs
Maybe she's just being a bossyboots?

Might have a wonky ovary
(they only have one viable ovary, if it goes caput you won't be seeing any eggs),
so more testosterone and thus the male behaviors.
It's not unheard of.
The spurs could be another indicator.
Will be interesting to see what happens when s/he molts...male feathering could grow in.

Has she ever laid an egg?

I have never seen her in the nesting boxes, but I assumed (based on egg color) that I was getting eggs from her for a couple months at the end of last year. I am not getting any pale eggs like that right now, so I guess it is a waiting game...

I have had hens crow before, but she is taking it to a whole new level. It is making me wonder if she does have an ovary issue.

Sounds like a hormone imbalance probably due to an ovary issue. I have a hen who crowed for a few weeks when she was about a year old and even started mounting the others... Then out of the blue she started laying again and all the 'male' behaviour stopped. She's been fine ever since and has even brooded and raised chicks. :idunno

Check her pelvic points and compare to other females?
Hmmm, have never checked a male bird....might have to.

How did things turn out? She’s got the face of a cockerel but it’s a hen as you knew. Did she ever lay?
