Hello everyone! So I posted this under ducks because I would not say it’s an emergency. My call duck hen has just started laying a bit ago (this not her first year laying). I feel her tummy every day to see if she has an egg. Three days ago I felt an egg the next morning she didn’t lay it. I waited for a while and she still hasn’t laid. It’s been three days now and she still hasn’t. She doesn’t seem uncomfortable. Her tail isn’t pumping. Just no egg! She still poops. What should I do?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

If she starts self-isolating, tail pumping, squatting and straining, it could indicate that she is egg bound. But if she is eating and running around like a normal duck, she is probably doing okay. Monitor her behavior for those sorts of differences, but also know that there can be a couple days in between eggs (or she might have laid one hidden somewhere you don't know about). Eggs are built more "factory line" style where there are multiple eggs being made all at once each in different stages, rather than one at a time from start to finish. What you may have felt may be an egg "earlier in the production line".

What do you feed her , and do you leave a dish of crushed or flaked oyster shell out and available for her to eat whenever she wants to?

Floating duck feed. I can get a picture later if you want. I do have oyster shells available for her.

I understand floating duck feed I give my duck Mazuri waterfowl maintenance. Well that’s great. She has oyster shells so she’ll probably be fine.

Her eggs are fertile. Could this egg start developing inside her? Sorry if this is a dumb question!😂

How many ducks do you have? Do you have other females to compare how their abdomen feels because it’s really hard to feel an egg and you might be feeling something else that’s normal- ducks are experts at hiding their eggs in random places. You would never expect she might be laying them somewhere that you haven’t found.
