Hi all. I’m new here, and I have had my flock for almost a year. We have 7 hens and 1 rooster who I believe are all Easter egger bantam mix’s of some kind ( we got them as chicks from someone from work).
This evening I went out to gather eggs and found my favorite hen dead in the run. I am so sad she was so sweet but I’m also concerned. I don’t see anything else obvious cause of death, other than her vent seems to be prolapsed. I had noticed her comb has been looking a little more pale than the others but she seemed to be acting normal and happy and has been laying so I’m really at a loss.
I’m going to call the vet in the morning but I am worried with all this bird flu going around, we do have an covered run but we live in the country and I like to let them out and roam around.
Do you think the eggs are still safe to eat? I’m adding probiotics to their water. I’m worried for the rest of my flock and I don’t know what to do
any advice is welcome
