/\ Start of Journey /\

Day 1: Today was a normal day like no other, or was it? I was about to relax, it WAS the weekend after all. I was halfway to the livingroom When I heard a series of quacks from my office window. I decided not to ignore it and looked through the pull-down blinds and saw a nesting wild mallard. A MALLARD! NESTING ON MY PROPERTY! I was so happy, It was pure curiosity mixed with happiness...

Day 2: I decided to keep looking through the window and checking on the mallard every day, watching her habits, Im doing that because I let my love of nature get the best of me. Then, later that day. I wondered "Hey, wait a second.... couldn't I just.... buy, a domesticated duck?" So after thinking this and connecting the idea together....I went upstairs and to my bedroom, hopped on my personal computer, and started researching. Oh....the amount of research I did was WORTH IT!

Day 3: After researching for a few hours this day's morning, I looked and looked, but every store on google maps I found had little to no identification that it had ducklings OR chicks for sale. I looked at many reviews, wanting atleast ONE to tell me a good review that they have a good amount of ducklings or something. I found only two. Plus the stores were too far away.

Day 4: After waking up this morning, I researched more, and found a website called Metzerfarms.com. Metzerfarms.com looked like it had good reviews, a wide selection, and overall a good rate of successful delivery! It also looks like the best online delivery site for ducklings, in my personal opinion. So I was intrested in Muscovy (Black) and Pekin (Jumbo). I have a nice fresh trixie Natura Duckhouse from Home Depot I bought along with a foldable, easily drained pool the size of a average bedroom.
I also got the supplies for a brooder, and straw for the Duckhouse and brooder. I made (In my, giddy opinion) a very serious looking slideshow using a presentation format about WHY we should get ducklings, and presented it to my mother (The Boss of the house) she liked it and didnt say no.... or yes. I calculated the price, and my money is JUST ENOUGH FOR EVERYTHING.

Day 5: Today, the day of posting this, was the day I realized I didnt like law as much as I had 5 days ago. I secretly want to be a rancher for ducks and geese and chickens. I wanted to be a lawyer later in life because they were making a lot of money (supposedly) and they seemed cool and I really liked law a lot. But now I realize that I dont like it as much anymore, I still do, but not so much. My grandpa has a pretty big plot of land where he lives from 1998. It has about two large fields, is in the countryside, and is next to farmlands surrounding him, and the natural oregon forests. Im currently almost 14. Im pretty sure this is what I want to do with my life. Im thinking about starting a small duck farm in my front and backyard, then when I get about 16 I will move to my grandpa's and pay rent to live on his land. I will have a small nice cabin in the upper left field, next to the pond. Maybe I could make the pond be full year round, instead of being filled by the rain, y'know? But, I don't know what my mom will think of this idea. Im pretty sure she will probably say some things like: "Ranchers have to get up at dawn, blah blah blah *something about chores* blah blah blah" or "Its a pretty big job for you blah bah blah your still very young blah blegh blahhh". So... I don't know what to do, I know Im still pretty young, but I would really like to follow my passion, my mom is great and all, but I hope she doesnt push down my dreams again, like she did with my other dreams. I know she loves me and wants me to be successful and enjoy what I want in life, but I feel like this is where I want to go.

I will update this in a few days.

My grandpa's property is below.

It's good at any age to have dreams and goals. Seeing you are 14, and I'm 64, ours are quite different. I remember my dreams at that age, and many dreams since. Most dreams never came to fruition, but what did happen was much better.

I wish you the best! :hugs
