Hey I really don’t know what to do but my rooster has not been able to walk good he has trouble walking with his left leg his leg is reddish and purple but I see no cut injury. This morning I went to go see my chickens and now my rooster can’t walk with his right leg he only hops around and his leg is starting to turn reddish. If anyone could help I’d really appreciate he’s been like this since last week I don’t know what to do please help!

Welcome To BYC

Can you post photos of all of him so we can see his face and body?
Can you get clear photos of the top and very bottom of his feet?

How old is he?
Where are you located in the world?
What have your temperatures been like?

If it's really cold, possibly he's suffering from Frostbite.

I'd place him in a protected area, perhaps a cage or kennel within the coop. Provide him with clean dry bedding.

Will he eat/drink on his own?

I’m not home right now but I will take a picture of him and post it on here.
He is about 6-7 months
I’m located in NC it’s recently been cold about 20 degrees. He is drinking oh his own and eating but isn’t able to walk good enough he just hops around. I Will place him in a cage thanks for the advice I just can’t figure out what’s wrong with his legs and how to cure/treat it.

Handsome!

The reddish flush is likely hormones, you'll see that in roosters, cockerels and even hens sometimes when they are "mature".

I don't see purple, but if you do, then that would indicate some brusing.
He's standing with his left foot turned in just a bit, feel of that joint to see if it's swollen or tender.

Recheck his foot pad just to be sure it's not raw from the cold and moisture.

If he's limiting his activity, then you can decide to keep him with the hens and let him hang out, but if you think he'd relax better by being caged, then cage him. I'd keep him near his hens if at all possible.

I'd also start giving him B-Complex daily. 1/2 tablet, he's a big boy.

Hopefully this is just injury. I'm not seeing anything that says frostbite right this minute, but it can happen.

You mention you are in NC, I sure hope you are safe and o.k. from Helene. I'm in WNC, I was very blessed to not have much damage, but my heart breaks for many many N Carolinians.

View attachment 4001229Hey so I went to check up on him this afternoon im not sure if it’s raw but his leg looked more reddish I’ll take some pictures tomorrow and clean his leg to get a better picture because I’m not really sure. I also did check his foot pad and it was a bit swollen I don’t know what I’m supposed to put on it. Also thanks for the help
