Okay, I isolated this hen as soon as I noticed it was getting worse, but I'm afraid some of my other hens may also be infected.
My rooster beat her up pretty bad...her back is bare and she must have laid a huge egg because her vent is prolapsed; she is coughing, wheezing, and sometimes gasping for air; she has what appears as crushed white egg shell mixed with clear water poo and some normal poo also. I isolated her two night ago and started her on Tetracycline in her water and prep H on her vent. Her appetite is great! I feed her warm oatmeal with yogurt and some layer crumble. Oh and did I mention that husband let me bring her into the house for warmth.....and boy does a chicken in the kitchen smell!
Any more suggestions or advice????
A few of my other hens cough but nothing like this one.
Oh, I put just 1/2 tsp Tetracycline in a gallon of water with poly vi sol and keep it in the refrigerator.....I keep praying for this chicken...of course she is one of my favorites.
