I have some mystery genetics showing up with some chicks I hatched.
Roo is what I assumed was a RIR. He belonged to the neighbor but kept coming over and knew they were going to eat him, he's a nice roo so we kept him to breed few laying hens.
Hens are
Sapphire Olive Egger
Sapphire Gem

This is the 2nd clutch. I gave the first 6 chicks to the neighbor in exchange for stealing the rooster. We had similar colors only the very light silver chicks had red heads and we didn't have a yellow one.

The SOE hatches very light silvers, barred, and gray/blue.

The SG hatches very dark gray with red and yellow that is turning gray.

I know the Sapphire have light barring, I'm surprised to see the Roo must carry it too.

My real question is what color are these pale silver chicks? They are very pretty. They look like lavender but the roo would have had to be black to carry that right?

I actually breed other purebreds and this was just a side project to get generic layers for eggs. I didn't expect to want to plan another pen but those silver babies are very cute. Like Sapphire Diamonds! 20250303_114704.jpg 20250309_145630.jpg 20250309_145703.jpg 20250309_140232.jpg 20250309_140533.jpg 20250309_140515.jpg 20250309_140545.jpg 20250309_141341.jpg 20250309_140553.jpg 20250309_140643.jpg
