When cleaning our coop today, we found these bloody roosting bars. We examined all 15 of our chickens and found one chicken with some abdominal blood. Most of what you see in the photo here is where my husband has used the wound spray. The wound itself is relatively small but caused an awful lot of bleeding and it looks like she hopped from one roost bar to another. This chicken in particular seems to be bullied by everyone. She’s very passive, very docile. We often call her our special needs chicken. In the yard the flock seems to stick close together, but she is always wandering alone. She’s over a year old and we don’t think she’s ever laid an egg. (We have a camera on the nesting boxes). We can’t figure out how the wound is on her abdomen? Nothing on her head back or sides. Thoughts on this? Note: they only sleep in the coop nothing else. They are out, free ranging dawn to dusk.
