Hello, I have a jumbo pekin named Peacher who is suffering from strange bruising on her feet. She is currently being treated by a vet and is on pain killers and antibiotics and SSD cream but the "bruising" is spreading. My vet and myself are stumped as to what the cause is. The bruising starts as a dark purple color out of nowhere mind you, and then proceeds to slough off and leave holes in her webbing. She has one small hole already and its just getting worse. Has any other duck owner seen something like this before? It is causing her pain and she is limping and I am worried it will spread to other areas on her.

Here is a breakdown of their living quarters/lifestyle: she lives with 4 other flock mates, they have a medium sized pond, bedding is a mix of sand and pine shavings, they eat scratch grain, forage, Mazuri layer feed, lettuce, watermelon, frozen peas. They get daily bird vitamins and electrolytes, they are on calcium gluconate twice a week and calcium glubionate when I notice a calcium deficiency. I don't know what else to do...

Thank you in advance.

First picture is early this morning-- this picture was this evening - it has progressed that quickly

Hi.

I have no idea what would cause it...
...and I am no expert...
...but if she was my duck, I would try :
FIRST : washing her feet with Apple Cider Vinegar, and letting it dry for 2 minutes,
NEXT : (after these two minutes,) bathing her in warm water mixed with Epsom Salt (15 to 30 minutes);
THEN : bathing her feet - really JUST her feet!! - in a mix of warm water, Olive Oil, and honey... during 30 minutes if possible;
AFTER WHAT : carefully rubbing Olive Oil on her feet (and letting her go once it is done).

...I would do the "Apple Cider Vinegar on the feet + Epsom Salt bath" just once a day.
But the "Olive Oil and Honey (foot) bath + rubbing raw Olive Oil on the feet" twice or thrice a day...

Just in case, I would also :
▬ put 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar per liter of water in her waterer (a PLASTIC one - not metal!!) - once a week until improvement;
▬ mix food grade Diatomaceous Earth in her food - everyday.

(And I would stop with Vitamins, Calcium, and Electrolytes.)

...I am no expert, I insist...
But if you don't know what to do, you could want to try it at least...?

Good luck.

(If EVER your duck's feet bleed, DO NOT bath her feet in Epsom Salt.
Just clean her feet with Apple Cider Vinegar, but don't let it dry - instead, rince the Vinegar with water and/or put her feet directly in the "Olive Oil + honey + warm water" mix!)

Thanks for the advice. It is strange because it seems to progress during the day. Mornings she is fine and mobile and as the day wears on, she seems to develop the dark purple bruises and a limp.
