Hello, I am new member and needing help. One of our cute chick hatched a few days ago, is having problem with her left leg. It seems to be dislocated as she is not able to use it normally. I moved her to be by herself as other chicks were stepping on her, but she didn't like it and I moved her back with the rest of them. Please let me know how to fix her dislocated hip/leg and care for her. Thank you in advance!

Welcome To BYC

It may be a slipped tendon (Perosis). I'd begin giving 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily.

Hopefully these will help.

Thank you so much for this information. We got her legs connected with a rubber band with a small cut straw in the middle. What is the best way to give her 1/4 tablet B-Comlex to a few days old chick?

Are you sure she's Spraddle Legged and needs to be hobbled or does she have a Slipped Tendon?
Applying the wrong correction to leg issues will do more harm than good.

Take the time to research her exact issue and make sure you're giving the right "treatment".

I'd dissolve the 1/4tablet B-Complex in a very small amount of water, then draw it up into a needleless syringe. Give her a few drops throughout the day until all the liquid is gone. Repeat for at least a week.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am happy to report that she is doing much better. We used a hair band and added a piece of straw in the middle of the legs and she had it for about 3 days and it helped tremendously.
