Here are our 5 new black australorp chicks, they are only 3 days old but I thought it would be fun to start guessing gender and do a photo shoot with them. 🐣 They weren't really in to posing for pics but my daughter has been wanting to do the cupcake liner skirts 😆

They are a week old now. One I called pullet from the day we got them. She has wings going to her bum & tiny tail feathers sprouting. One other has the nice curved wings and the other three have the more jagged wings, but I swear I see double row of feathers on some of them too.

I'm sorry but wing sexing is not an accurate way of sexing. I believe it's only specific to certain breeds and australorps are not one of those.

You'll just have to be patient and take new pics of them when they're fully feathered. Trust me, I understand wanting to have answers immediately!

Oh, the video I found was of australorp chicks but I figured it's not completely accurate since those "week old" chicks were much larger & have more feathers than my week old chicks.
We were hoping for 1 roo but they are from a pullets only order...still that 1 in 10 chance...just don't need them all to be roos!
Guess I'll have to be patient, it's still fun to guess!
