(1) This is my first time owning and caring chickens myself but have often helped my sister with her flock. I got some chicks from a neighbor and few more from a feed store.

(2) I have three, 3 wk olds and three, 1 wk olds and am inheriting a full grown hen from my daughter's school in a couple weeks. All will remain separate until they are similar sizes with a slow introduction. Fingers crossed!

(3) My older chicks are black copper Maran mix, 2 of the younger ones are Red cross or Sexlink, and 1 Brahma. Not sure what kind the hen is that I am inheriting but she's mostly white.

(4) I found BackYardChickens.com through research trying to prepare for my chicks and take acre of them the best I can. I live in Phoenix so it is HOT in the summers and need ideas on how to keep my ladies happy and healthy.

(5) My family loves animals of all sorts, hiking, camping, live music, crafts, and of course the beach when we can make it there but we mostly retreat up North a couple hours to the forest and mountains.

(6) I work from home mostly as a training coordinator and my husband is a realtor. We have two children ages 5 and 2. We also have an old black lab who just loves the chicks and is as gentle as can be.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
