Hi all, my husband and I are new chicken owners. I've been browsing the forums for quite awhile as we research things like coop building and chick raising! Our coop is mostly done and we are just about to get started on the run (I'll be making a post about that soon) 
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
- We are both new to chicken keeping. I've wanted chickens for years but we were renting and also in a city that didn't allow them. We finally moved and purchased our own place last year. We purchased our chicks from Meyers and received them in April.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
- 7. We started with 6...chicken math immediately happened and I brought home another chick a few days after receiving our day olds lol. One tragically passed, so we replaced her with 2 more. Then one turned out to be a rooster, so we re-homed him.
(3) What breeds do you have?
- 1 fibro EE, 1 green queen, 1 swedish flower, 1 golden campine, 3 wyandottes (1 silver and 2 gold).
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
- They're so fun! Since we got them as day olds and handled them all the time they are all very tame, our green queen and fibro EE especially (pic of them attached). Looking forward to getting eggs in 2-3 months and having a colorful array!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
- Mountain biking and weight lifting. My husband bikes too when I can convince him to come with
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
- Husband works in IT, full time remote which is nice since he can let the girls out. I'm an accountant full time in office. We have 2 cats, 2 bearded dragons, and no kids
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
- I think the first time I saw the page was when we were looking for coop ideas. We've learned a lot from all the different ideas people have had!
