Bought some chicks from Atwood's yesterday. We bought two from the black sex link bin. One of them though did not look like the rest of the BSL's. We bought 5 bantams from an assorted st. run bin. Then we bought two chicks from an assorted "heavies" bin. There were only two out of about 50 chicks that looked crested so we picked them up. We know that one of them is a BSL and one of the bantam's is a buff cochin. The rest not so sure about

Gold crested chick from the assorted heavies bin. Clean willow colored legs.

Speckled Sussex? Really...Are you sure? That would be interesting. I thought they were darker than that as chicks. Although I still consider myself a novice at best at this chicken raising thing.

Beautiful babies though!!!!

Here are my guesses...
Golden Laced Polish
Mille Fluer d'Uccle Bantam
Mottled Cochin Bantam
Light Brahma Bantam
BSL (RI Red x Barred Rock)
Silver Laced Polish
Silver Duckwing Old English Game Bantam
And then the one you said was a BSL

Will you update the thread to tell us what they ended up growing into...pretty please?

Not sure on the first one - Possibly a Gold Laced Polish, but not the greatest quality if it is one

Partridge Cochin

Mottled Cochin

Not sure

Not sure

Silver Laced Polish

Black Breasted Red or Silver Duckwing Old English Game Bantam

Good I was hoping that the two crested ones were polish. Seems like chicks 2,3 and 7 differ so far in opinions. DW will be excited if one turns out to be a buff brahma and I'd be excited with an SS. But a Mille Fluer d'Uccle Bantam and Mottled Cochin Bantam would be alright as well, lol. We will deifinitely update the thread as the grow up.

I agree with GardeNerd- definitey don't think the chipmunk is a Speckled Sussex. (No hatcheries offer this breed as a bantam.) Though the Mille Fleur d'Uccle may be another colour form.

The gold one is definitely crested but poorly crested. Atwood's got their chicks from Ideal they told me. The chipmunk one did come from the bantam bin and by far is the absolute smallest chick I have ever seen.
