NEW JERSEY Shaded grass Area that if you RAKE it LIGHTLY The Grass Comes out in Clumps

I’ve been told. alfalfa, clover, annual rye, kale (and its close relative, rape), turnips, mustard, buckwheat, and grain grasses — But what Grain Grass ?? This area is side of house with Huge Pine tree ( neighbors tree ) Where he can’t even plant Vegetables on his side due to lack of Sun. I NEED HELP. I’m intending on ripping crappy grass out and Making it into a Run. It’s about 12 ft wide. X 50ft Long. I was gonna put some 1x2 across to neighbors fence. And 4ft high with Blavk Plastic Fencing So stupid HAWKS don’t Attack. My Blind Hen MRS PINK is Blind and Deaf thanks to one such attack !!! But it would be Also Cut in Half at 6ft. So One week they have half. And I can spread some seed and other week or so they’ll have the other Half. They have a 15x20 ft Area in the coop area where I’m turning the dirt this weekend and Want Yo Plant Something and Outside of coop an Area bout 6ftx20ft. Where I want to also Throw seed and Plant Veggies. I JUST NEED HELP ON WHAT TYPES OF SEEDS ARE GOOD AND GROW WUICKLY IN. NORTHERN NEW JERSEY. 5 min outside NYC
