You could also try hanging a head of cabbage just out of their reach. They will take turns jumping up to get some- and in doing so use up some excess energy.

I can enter pen and birds come to me and I can pick them up and hold them. They will eat from my hand follow me.

I put half of lettuce in pen and they just looked at me. Was funny, I talk to them and they just look at me

Chickens especially enjoy a slice of watermelon (who doesn't?)
