I just brought home a peacock yesterday. He is 2 to 3 years old and his tail is about 4ft. Just beauitful and very bright with green and blue. Today, I noticed his tail feathers are turning like a auburn red. Mind you 24 hours prior, it was just as green and bright as could be. He is a black shouldered. Im not sure if its from the stress of the move or he is sick.We only had him in transit for less than 30 minutes. He was in a silk pillow case to keep him cool and calm. The former owner had him in a smaller pen then he has now, but they also had another male peacock who was free range. Please help.

The sun can play tricks with peacocks colors, always have the bird between you and the sun. It makes the difference between this;

And this;

Some Purple cocks will wash out terribly in mid to late summer, mine is looking very washed out right now, sorry, no current pics.

Moisture in the air can change the color of a peacocks train just like a mood ring.
This is what a damp train looks like here.

this is a dry train
