New poults absolutely hate me

Hi! I picked up two poults today that are 10 weeks old. They were handled daily by my seller who had an amazing setup and was very helpful.

I brought them home, introduced them to my six chicken hens, led them to their new house just for them, and attempted to hold them. They screamed bloody murder and we're impossible to hold. Please tell me they just had a bad, stressful day and eventually will come around? I bought them as pets. Male and female.

They don't know who you are or where they are at. Turkeys hate change. You need to give them time to adjust.

How were they able to sex 10 week old poults?

I would also keep them separately from your chickens, especially if you have no knowledge whether your soil carries blackhead. Turkeys also can harass chickens, and vice versa.

The male is displaying and has a distinct bump on the head that the seller sees in all her poults. The turkeys are separated from the chickens, and separate living quarters

Yeah I wouldn't introduce them to the flock for a few days. They will definitely need some time to readjust. Turkeys hate change tho they will eventually come around. I think if you are knowledgeable it's not hard to sex at 10 weeks. Bird and variety depending; )

Turkeys can be extremely dramatic! Like Oldhen said, they think they've landed on the moon & your an alien! Dont push them...just sit out there with them & let them get used to you & their new surroundings. Spend some time with them & before you know it they will be all over you like a couple of cheap feathered suits.
