New to turkeys. They started puffing their feathers out.

I noticed my white broad-breasted turkey and my wild palm have started to stretch their feathers out and make that fan appearance. Is this "preening?" Also, if my turkeys do make themselves look big and poofy does that mean they are toms that are trying to attract a hen? I'll post a picture below to show the same behavior my turkeys are making.

This is not my turkey but just a picture of one I found on Google. This is what my turkey does every so often.. but it's almost like he's stretching.

Thanks

It's called "strutting" and both sexes can do it, but mostly the males. The reasons a male turkey will strut are endless, but mostly it's to impress the hens or deter other males.

If you listen when they do that you can actually hear them humming, "I'm to sexy for my tail, I'm to sexy for my snood!"
