Hi everyone, I'm from the North Island of nz in the waikato region.
2yrs ago I purchased 1x older hand reared hamburg rooster named oreo who had been sold to a breeder where he stayed for a few years thenshe changed her breeding preferences and sold oreo to me so unsurd of his age but hes super friendly, most of the time with me but men he attacks and runs from one end of our xtra large spacious 1/4 acre section to the other to chase and attacks any male stupid enough to walk outside if he's loose lol
these days he's happily behind full 2.4m minimum height security fence netting to ensure everyone's safety.
Oreo loves warm baths, purple shampoos with diluted with babysafe bath wash/shampoo to ensure he doesn't go purple or irritate him. He also loves being blow-dried after being wrapped in a warm towel near the heater to dry out anything that may result in him getting sick with a chill.
Check out my small hamburg breeding team,
It consists of oreo and his son + 2 hens I purchased not lonb after purchasing oreo.
My daughter and i competed at our first ever poultry how this time last year and won 5 of the 6 we entered (3 hens and 3 roosters) won 1st placings in their classes and 1 hen placing 2nd due to my other same aged hen thing first place above her.
We also won the trophy for best hamburg overall with a hen a year older than the ones I have currently that sadly passed away around Xmas time and was lucky the mother of my young rooster x with my Main rooster which I think she's passed those gorgeous near perfect key things judges look for when judging then on their breed specifics.
I myself grew up on massive nz rural sheep and beef farms as a kid then followed my dream since preschool of being a skill equestrian rider educating young horses aswell as young people.
My partner is and ag contracting machine operator and jack of all trades and I myself am a small company owner and a health snd safety advisor for companies outside of my own
