Hello. My name is Stephanie, and I am brand new to raising chickens and BYC. I don't even have any chicks yet. I was interested in getting my son into 4H and have him show chickens as he was helping his Grandpa raise chickens at their house, then my in-laws rehomed their flock. So, instead of my son having his chickens at their house, we'll have them at ours. So, now starts the process of learning as much as I can, and building our coop for next years batch of chicks. My son is 6 and is in Mini 4H. I have 1 other child, a 3 yr old girl. I work part time (feels like full time) and my husband works full time as well. We have 1 Brittany Spaniel named Daisy, and a tuxedo cat named Katniss. I'm very much looking forward to being a chicken tender, and looking forward to the eggs, however, that is not original reason of having the chickens. I will be the extra Chicken mama who puts toys in their run, hangs watermelons, and puts pumpkins for them to carve themselves. I also want to be as hands on with them as I can.
