Newcastle disease?

I have a flock of 16 chickens, about a week ago I noticed one of my roosters had a greenish diarrhoea, but he seemed his normal self so I just kept an eye on him. A few days later I noticed another two had the same situation going on. Two days ago , a hen of mine just dropped dead without showing any signs of illness and now today I lost another one out of the blue. I sent in a sample of their droppings and the vet said that he can’t see any signs of parasites or disease , although he says he saw some bacteria and said I should just try to keep the coop clean and keep an eye on them. I did a bunch of research and thought maybe it sounds like Newcastle Disease but maybe just a mild variant? The two chickens I lost were both Salmon Favervolle hens. Where could they have gotten the disease? I bought 5 new chickens about a month ago now, so I don’t see how it could’ve came from them? One of the new ones even got the diarrhoea. Any ideas on what it could be or how it could’ve developed?

Are they showing any other signs of ND?

1. respiratory signs – gasping, coughing, sneezing and rales
2. nervous signs – tremors, paralyzed wings and legs, twisted necks, circling, spasms, and paralysis
3. digestive signs
4. diarrhea
5. a partial or complete drop in egg production may occur. Eggs may be abnormal in color, shape, or surface, and have watery albumen

there are cases of avian flu gong around all over the US and ND can look similar to it

Did your vet send anything out for testing? Where are you located in the world (not an exact area, but general location)?

How old are your chickens?
Where are you located in the world?
What do you feed, including treats?

Check everyone over for lice/mites, make sure crops are emptying overnight. Think back - have they eaten anything moldy, toxic or rotten?

Your research points you to Newcastle Disease, but none of the symptoms you post would draw me to that conclusion. I don't see you mention any respiratory symptoms, paralysis, tremors, etc. Here's Info on common diseases including Newcastle https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/ps044

Did you vet check for just worms or did he look for Coccidiosis?

You brought in new birds...did you put them in with your existing flock when you got them or was there a waiting period?

New birds, existing flock getting sick, green poop - these are still pretty vague, photos may be helpful. If your vet is willing, consider treating with an antibiotic. Deworm and treat for Coccidiosis.

The ones who died didn’t show any of these signs, except one did have mild diarrhea.

There is however a big drop in egg production, but it has been very cold where I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. The eggs I do get are normal looking.

It seems that whatever this is , is going in waves through the flock. I’d have two that get green diarrhea while the rest of the flock are perfectly normal. They have since gotten over it and now I have another two( different ones) that also have diarrhea. Other symptoms they are showing is just that they look droopy and depressed. They would still eat and drink only a little

He didn’t send anything out no. I live in Saskatchewan , Canada

Are you having any avian influenza cases in your area? Your province probably has lab that will do testing with a necropsy if you lose another.
